St. John’s Adult Bible Study will be presenting Romans: The Gospel of Salvation by Jeff Cavins and Andrew Swafford in video presentation on Thursday evenings (excluding Halloween) beginning on September 26th through November 21st. The eight sessions include the presentation along with small group discussions from 7:00 -9:00 PM in the School Annex.  
 
Paul’s letter to the Romans has been at the center of reflection, conversion, and controversy from the very beginning.  Indeed, many Catholics fear that Romans is too “Protestant.”   But understood correctly, as St. Paul intended, Romans is authentically Catholic.
 
Romans reveals that salvation is not merely the removal of a guilty verdict; it is about entering into Christ’s life, death, and resurrection and sharing in his divine life.  In Jesus Christ all the hopes and expectations of Israel are fulfilled, leading to the universal (catholic) family of God.  Participation in a study such as this will help us to better understand the readings we hear at our Sunday liturgies and to integrate them into our daily lives.
 
Posted on this website is a registration form which can be completed and submitted electronically. Registration forms are also available in the church gathering area and on the information table by the Parish Office. Forms not submitted electronically are to be turned into  the Parish Office.  Registration ends on Wednesday, September18th. There is a $30 fee for materials which is due at the first session on September 26^th.  Checks are to be made out to St. John’s. Workbooks will be distributed at our first session and those registering on the website will receive a full study schedule at that time.
 
Sessions are held in the school annex.  Please use the school parking lot and enter the building marked Parish Office on the lower level.  Turn left and use the elevator to proceed to the upper level. Signs will be posted to direct you to study areas.
