Just recently I have submitted to the Archdiocese our annual parish report - Status Animarum. Status Animarum - meaning "State of Souls" - is a register of people living in a parish and the events related to them. It is particularly characteristic of the Roman Catholic Church. The parish family books were prescribed in the Rituale Romanum published in 1614 by Pope Paul V. At first, they only contained data about sacraments received, religious knowledge, and religious affiliation. In the 18th century, other data was added such as house numbers. Since 1971, the Archdiocese of Chicago has collected Status Animarum counts on a fiscal year basis.
Today, I would like to share with you some data about our parish that you may find informing and interesting.
Our parish population is 3,631 registered families. Between July 1st 2023 and June 30th 2024, we have celebrated:
92 Baptisms
129 First Communions
112 Confirmations
20 Marriages
42 Funerals
I would like to thank you for your generous support of time, talent, and treasure to St. John the Evangelist parish over the past year. Your response to the promptings of the Holy Spirit has been a true blessing in helping us to be missionary disciples of Jesus Christ and making our parish strong in faith. Please continue to keep St. John’s parish and school in your prayers. May God our heavenly Father bless you, provide for all your needs, and reward your generosity.
God Bless, Fr. Gregg
