On Monday, January 8th, we will celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which ends the liturgical season of Christmas.
The baptism of Jesus was no ordinary event. It was the beginning of His public ministry in the power of the entire Holy Trinity revealed on that day. Baptism is a significant event, not just for Jesus., but for each one of us. It is in baptism that we die and rise with Christ. It is in baptism that we enter the Church, the Body of Christ. It is in baptism what we become children of God.
So, as we conclude this Christmas Season, let us celebrate not only Christ's baptism, but our own as well, and let us strive to live holy lives each day as we follow our Lord during this new year.
