Dear Parishioners,
What do you want for New Year? This is a question we ask each other often as we begin a New Year. Yet how many of us actually take a few minutes to kneel before our God and ask Him what He wants from us this year? It is very possible that He wants us to share a little more of our time with HIm. So maybe one of our New Year's resolutions should be to spend more time with God. Here is some advice about how to do that:
The gift of time with God could be the very best gift we could give this year, not only to Jesus but also to ourselves. It might be just what our hearts are longing for. That is why, Saint John's invites everyone to attend Eucharistic Adoration on Mondays and Thursday for 3:00 until 7:00 pm. Please come to our church and visit with the Eucharistic Lord for as long as you wish. Jesus Christ is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament - body, blood, soul, and divinity, and He awaits you!
Pope Saint John Paul II explained: "It is by taking time out to be with Jesus in the Bless Sacrament that this relationship with Our Lord begins to increase, and grow and blossom. Through the intimacy of quiet prayer with Jesus, one experiences the personal love of the Savior and grasps the reality that we are all one with the whole Body of Christ."
The visit to the Blessed Sacrament is a great treasure of the Catholic faith. Eucharistic Adoration nourishes and gives us opportunities for adoration and thanksgiving, for reparation and supplication. So, I ask each one of you to plan on spending some time with our Lord in Adoration this year. The Lord is always happy even if you just stop in for a short visit.
God Bless,
Fr. Gregg
