Each year, the Financial Council provides a summary of the Parish's financial state to the parishioners. A detailed report of financial numbers for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023, is also available on the Parish web site.

Overview of Fiscal Year 2023:

1. Total income from weekly collections. school tuition, and other operating sources showed an increase of 1% from the prior fiscal year.
2. Expenses increased by nearly 3% from the prior fiscal year. Rising costs can be attributed to inflation, completion of deferred maintenance projects, as well as employee salary increases and benefit restoration.
3. Our To Teach Who Christ Is (TTWCI) capital campaign has largely concluded. Overall, St. John's raised over $1.6 million in pledges through this campaign. The majority of those pledges were used to complete our school building HVAC project, our new Parish Center roof and our newly paved upper parking lot.
4. While there has been significant improvement, Mass attendance is still down significantly, and Sunday and Holy Day collections also reflect this decreased attendance when compared to pre-COVID conditions. As a result, all expenditures are being monitored with scrutiny. In addition, with the recent realignment of our parish to Vicariate IV, Quarterly Profit & Loss reports are now being reviewed with the Vicariate to ensure Parish finances continue to track to the defined budget.
5. The School ended the fiscal year with a 3% operating income increase year-over-year. However, with rising cost such as tuition assistance, salaries, and facility costs, to name a few, resulted in an operating expense increased by 9% year-over-year. The school continues to be available through external grants. We diligently monitor income and expenses and strive to narrow the gap whenever possible.

Moving forward, the Finance Council remains focused on two important topics: the Parish's mortgage and several large capital expenditures such as, the Church Lighting Project that is currently on-going, and the planned replacement of the Church's HVAC units. These systems are aging and will soon be obsolete.

The Finance Council will try to address ongoing capital improvements and will look for ways to enhance the weekly and mortgage collections, through eGiving and Planned Giving.
