On November 11th, we recognize those men and women who have served our country in the military. Since its beginnings, the Knights of Columbus has supported active military personnel and our veterans.
Did you know that the Knights of Columbus began its social service to soldiers in 1916? During World War I, the Knights of Columbus built and operated KC Huts in training camps throughout the United States and behind the lines in Western Europe, all bearing the motto "Everybody Welcome Everything Free." There, soldiers of every faith found a haven during their service to their country.
Sadly, there are many homeless Veterans in our area. Our council has partnered with Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (MSHV) to make a difference this holiday season. We are collecting new items from their current wish list. Items most in need, Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Kleenex, Napkins, Garbage Bags and Cans, Brooms and Mops, Pots and Pans, Knife Sets, Paper Plates, Food Storage Containers, Comforter, Queen Size Sheets, Towel Sets, Pillows, Cleaning Supplies and Personal Care Items. See our website for a complete list of current items needed. For ease of shopping, also look for their Wish List on Amazon.com https://a.co/b3ifTXn
We will also accept your donations for Homeless Veterans. Monetary donations can be made on kofc12801.square.site as well, or given to one of the Knights after mass on Nov. 4th and 5th. Thank you for remembering our Veterans in your prayers and also your support of our work with MSHV.
Today we lift up our voices to express gratefulness to these military troops both from the past and present. Keep and protect these heroes and their families, in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our charitable projects. God Bless our Nations Heroes who bravely served our country.
