Hi! My name is Christina Sekoguchi and I am the 8th grade homeroom teacher. I also teach 6th – 8th science and social studies. Previously, I taught 7th and 8th grade at Our Lady of Grace in Chicago for 11 years. I have always taught junior high and I love it!
I graduated from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a minor in Coaching. I grew up in Streamwood and have been a parishioner of St. Johns for many years. I received my Confirmation at St. Johns and belonged to one of the original youth groups.
My husband Gary and I were married in 2012 here at St. Johns and then I was fortunate to travel to Japan to meet my husband’s family in 2013. In 2018, we welcomed our beautiful daughter Sadie Yumika into our family. Life hasn’t been same since!! During my free time I enjoy visiting my parents in Michigan, outdoor activities with Sadie, and watching the Sox, Bears, and / or Blackhawks with family and friends.
I have wanted to be a teacher since 3rd grade and have always enjoyed working with children. Shortly after college, I was looking for a ways to be closer to God. My prayers were answered when my great-aunt, Sr. Patricia McDonald connected me to Sr. Rita and O.L.G. From there, I was offered a wonderful opportunity to come to St. Johns and I was thrilled. I am have genuinely enjoyed working with the wonderful students and families of St. Johns and being part of this awesome community for the past five years!!!
